The story of the Color Cask

Two years ago we released our unique Color Cask American Single Malt Whiskey, made using an exceptionally rare 200-year-old cask with a storied history in the traditional world of sherry production.

We loved the whiskey from this historic cask after almost five years of primary maturation, but were also excited to discover what it could create as a finishing cask. We took nearly six-year-old whiskey distilled from our Original Five Malt Mash Bill and finished it in this special cask. Just 28 days later, we were blown away. The cask was still oozing with flavor and we were enjoying the result.

But we weren’t finished yet.

With the Color Cask being much larger than a standard 53-gallon American whiskey barrel, we had a significant amount of the Color Cask finished whiskey on our hands. Our next Color Cask exploration would be a gin (a tale for another time), so this would be our final Color Cask American Single Malt Whiskey, and we wanted to turn it into a truly unforgettable journey.

So, we used the whiskey to fill three different casks for a final maturation period, which continues to this day.

The Color Cask on Whiskey Tribe

Whiskey Tribe released a fun and thoughtful video dedicated to tasting and telling the two-hundred-year-old story of our Color Cask American Single Malt Whiskey.
